2021 was a stellar year for ivelah. With the support of our suppliers and partners, we helped our clients achieve important milestones for the timely completion of projects and customer support. These achievements were made possible by our team’s tenacity and commitment to better serve customers.
Deepened relationships with existing and emerging technology vendors also played an important role in our quest to keep our customers updated with the latest industry trends. While we anticipate some industry-specific challenges to continue in 2022, with our energetic planning strategy and strong partnerships, we remain confident in our ability to help customers navigate the changing physical security landscape.
New Requirements for Access Control & Video Surveillance
In 2021 we saw a shift in physical security design, deployment, and configuration. Our conversations with new and existing customers included far greater emphasis on security systems that could deliver much more than typical video surveillance and controlled doors. We now found ourselves helping our customers with the question, “Can my security system do more?” Many end-users wanted to know how employee welfare, human resources, and changing work shift patterns could encompass an inclusive security mandate and technology platform, especially as employees and associates ventured back to their work locations.
Cloud-Based Migrations
2021 proved to be another year for the endorsement of, and support for, cloud-based Access Control and Video Surveillance. In response to the opportunity this new technology presents, we have been evaluating various providers of VSaaS and ACaaS so that ivelah is positioned to support customers exploring cloud-based solutions. For 2022, our goal is to help customers navigate the advantages and limitations of a cloud-based application when compared to the fully proven, on-prem server solution sets.
Supply Chain Obstacles
IPVM reported that many security integrators were of the opinion that prices had increased. This was compounded in 2021 with recorded cost increases for copper cable and computer/network hardware. We found both to be true. However, IP camera shortages proved to be a more extreme issue than price increases. Many integrators cited situations where cameras were frequently delayed for many months (IPVM). Computers, hard drives, and chipsets are currently the biggest cause for concerns. Backorder issues for access control readers, proximity cards, and power supplies became more prevalent in the latter part of 2021.
2021 did present logistical challenges for us, but with a more focused procurement model, and continuing to forge already strong vendor relationships, any disruption to our customers was minimal. In 2022 we foresee supply chains continuing to fall below expectations for manufacture and delivery. ivelah will tackle and resolve these instances by continuing to adopt vigorous, proactive project planning, communicating regularly with suppliers, and ordering early enough in the project process.
Thank you again to everyone with whom we have discussed solutions, shared your business concerns, and helped us meet your demand. ~ the team at ivelah.
